Saurus has an excellent vocabulary but there are a few words he just hasn’t gotten right yet and I love it so much that I don’t ever want him to learn the right way because that means he’s growing up and I’m so not emotionally ready for that. It’s a thing. Don’t read into it.

Saurus: “Did you know bingos are the creditors of kangaroos?”
“Did you see that big creditor looking for the sweet bunny?”
“That is such a mean creditor!”
“Oh no, Mom, the giant creditor panther is coming for Brother Tiny Mouse!”
Usually Little Fox has no idea he’s in danger from vicious creditors. And somehow he’s always a mouse. Probably because once upon a time, Superhero Rocket Saurus (self-titled)s needed an arch-nemesis and the most convenient person happened to be Little Fox, upon whom he bestowed the terrifying villain name of “Brother Bad Mouse”. So it stuck.
“Mom! Did you see? Brother Bad Mouse knocked over my jungle scene again!”
“Ugh. Brother Bad Mouse needs to go to jail. He crashed my train tracks. Again”
“Can you keep Brother Bad Mouse from ruining?”
“Brother Bad Mouse ate all my snack. Again. And took my milk.”
Hate to break it to you, Superhero Rocket Saurus, but Brother Bad Mouse is here to stay. But we can always make extra snacks.
Like these carrot patch cupcakes that Saurus and I made last Easter. He did quite a bit of it himself and we were both quite proud. The cake is my go-to carrot cake recipe that never disappoints and we mixed up some green vanilla cream cheese frosting, which Saurus happily turned into grass.
To make the carrots, I used orange candy melting wafers and piped a very small dollop onto waxed paper. Then used a small piping tip and green candy melting wafers to create the sprig of green. Let both cool on the waxed paper until hard. Then run a metal teaspoon under hot water to warm it up and press it onto the top of the “carrot” to melt the candy melts and create a little dent. Quickly (and gently) press the green top into the melted part and allow to harden. Voila! Carrot!
Add your carrots to the grass-topped cupcakes and enjoy!
Ill be giggling about Brother Bad Mouse all day! What a sweetie…
And I totally get the emotional reaction to all the words pronounced correctly. E is getting so many right these days that I’m having to body-block Hubs from correcting the final few. I’m just not ready for a *perfect* talker!! ❤️
